nature........

(baby backpack, walking sticks, vintage picnic basket and blanket....)

As soon as I got my driver's license, my sunroof came off and with map in hand, would explore all the forest preserves in my area, and just beyond....which led to a greater appreciation for nature, life, and solitude.....
which eventually led me to pursue a degree in Environmental Science.....
(the most unique dragonflies were lying on the sun-soaked leaves lining the creek)

A greater love for my now husband, altered my dreams and led to my current vocation as wife and mother.......however......my love for nature has never ceased........

(a grass path lined the creek, where the most amazing bird sounds were)

Forest preserves are a great and free day trip.........times are financially tough no?......then pack those sandwiches - or grill at the park - and go take a dip in the creek, hear the birds, watch the wildlife, and enjoy nature at it's finest.......all for free...........
(a handmade dress for little one, hanging out to dry after a dip in the creek)

(I took over 293 photographs that day, so don't be surprised if you see more of the trip ;)

  3. What a lovely post, very fresh and summer filled! So here is my question, is there a way to keep bugs off of me and my darling toddler?? We have been having adventures in our back yard and the chiggers are just eating me ALIVE!

  4. We have several State Parks about an hour away. We make it a point to go every summer. The oys really look forward to it. They love spending time with Mom and Dad on a hikie and picnic. Thanks for sharing your trip. Love the dress color.

  5. Ah, yes. Nature IS so restorative. And mostly free;)
I often find a good walk about in the woods clears my head no matter what the season.

  6. Wow Anne Marie,
Ok, you know how I said before, that you remind me of my big sister?! You know the one with the alpaca farm. Karrie-Ann, is an environmental scienctist. She went to college in Vermont. Her office is in Boston, but she lives and works from her home in Maine. How weird is that? I wish we all lived closer. Thank God for cyberspace ;)

  7. Dear Anne Marie,

Like you, I love nature! I am always amazed at God's incredible creation! I love to keep a nature journal of my findings. I only wish I could draw better! :)

The picnic scene is just beautiful... I love picnics! That dragonfly is very unique indeed! I love the photo of your long flowing skirt and sandaled feet nestled in the green grass. Oh, you must be enjoying the warmth of summer.

The dress you made for your little girl is pretty and looks so picturesque hanging out to dry on the the twig.

I look forward to seeing a lot more photos of your outing! You take such pretty pictures and share such sweet thoughts.

    Love, Paula
