One of my favorite spots in the house.........where I can see the Potager, peruse through one of my most cherished cookbooks.....and plan supper for the family.....
A daily occurrence......and I like to display them like the art they are.....
my children have never been to McDonalds.....
they call it "yellow mustard"
(which is a family joke of ours now.....)
~teaching our children where their food comes from is important to me and my husband~
because it's taking care of not only the earth God gave us, but our bodies that He (most uniquely) also gave us....it's a gift.....we had nothing to do with it did we......
"yeah....yeah.....Anne Marie....get back to the cookbook.........."
you don't flip through it like a lousy catalog........(unless it's a lousy cookbook).....
but rather, read it like a book......
there is SO much you can learn from a good cookbook like this one I'm showing you....
If I could design a cookbook, it would be very similar to this one.....

I stand as an All-American...too-rushed...too lazy...never-giving-it a second thought Mother, and give you full honor and salute, that you have never taken your kids to McDonald's! WOW! May I shake your hand? What an honor! Excuse me while I go crawl in a whole somewhere! Unless you want to come to Louisiana and give my family diet, my house, my life a makeover? Hey! Maybe we should be on wife-swap! Only I would have to removed by the police from your home! Girl, you are indeed wonderful, and your blog is wonderful, and your pictures, children, YOU!! I feel relaxed just showing up!Have a great day!
ReplyDeletegood heavens Lisa....you are WAY TOO KIND! I've never been to Louisiana ;)
ReplyDeleteWIFE SWAP! That was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteYou have got one up on me too! My kids have only had French Fries from MacDo and that is Momma's fault - it started when I was pregnant with Amélie and out on errands and hunger would strike. I would get a fry for myself and give them to Aidan. Now, they are his favorite treat, Amélie's too. But, they have never had pop (except a couple Root Beers) and they don't even know what a Happy Meal is. I am sure my friends think I am a snob but really - I just cant imagine letting them eat gray, grade E but edible meat. Gross.
In return I have kids that ask to eat Goat Cheese, broccoli and Thai food. There has got to be something to it!
If anyone should write a cookbook it is you my dear. I love the little nook in the kitchen that you wrote about - it is so wonderful that you can see your potager from that window!!!
What's for dinner????
Pretty pretty pictures!
ReplyDeleteAng~
ReplyDeleteleftovers and most likely yellow summer squash....you kwim??
So lovely...and so true...I try so hard to cook healthy meals...sometimes I slip...but I think you should write a cookbook...I would buy it!!!! The images would be amazing! Happy day to you!
ReplyDeleteWOW...good for you, never going to MCdonalds sounds like a dream come true!!! I remember a few years ago we took a train from Belfast to Dublin and we were all starved when we got there and the first place we saw was MCD's...and we all decided we were not that hungry and kept going!!!! Great post, hope all is well,Chrissy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cookbook displays! As you could probably guess ..My family has been to Mc Donalds a few too many times! But as of a last month I've put us on a new track! I'm making healthy meals and not buying junk! Fruits and veggies and we all feel better!
ReplyDeleteI adore beautiful cookbooks. But my useful ones are actually all quite ugly. Just as well--it doesn't matter if they get messy when I cook!
ReplyDeleteI love cookbooks and have quite a collection myself , I love your display for them. You are so right they are so nice to just sit and read . So right about it being important to know where our food come from and how it effects our bodies.
ReplyDeleteI remember as a girl eating nothing but cherry tomatoes all day long out of my dads garden and sour grapes off our grape vine. So good:-)
