Na-Da Farm style party decor II.......

found in an old attic, my husband brought these home to my delight!
just right for a little na-da farm style party
(can they really be from 1879??...I certainly didn't stencil that on there, and neither did the elderly couple they came from!!) *see Kasey comment- thanks - no one has told me that yet
harvest tables have to be one of my favorite things.........

and I had thought of just using barn wood tops - well, maybe some day, but for now......the rooster (all be it) vinyl cloths wash up super well, and with over 100 children - it was just great)

we also lined up straw bales as seating (lent by our cutie pie dairy farmer Otto - which also lent us the trailer for hay rides) - zero dollars

(except, we did give him a 'thank you' wad)

on each of the walls, I took these old windows I was using in the summer house, and added them to the walls by the food tables.....
kids' area for dining.........
(don't forget - all these table cloths were made last year before the party) what party is complete without a blue cow leaned up against an old altar rail?
beats me!

so for pretty much no money - just alot of hard work, we had one of our most successful parties

little lass even danced in her dress I made for her new Novice competitions in Irish Dance.......

it's all about the people for us here on the farm.....

that is exactly why we have it - not for us - for our guests.....
and they could care less it was potluck!

the people are what make the memories, but the decor is what sets the scene......
and last but not least.......
the outside privy

instead of people saying: "oh man! I have to use the outhouse!!!??!!"....
I wanted them to say: "Awesome!! I get to use the outhouse!"

I used an old ironing board to hold the 'wash stand' of some antique silver pieces, and ironstone dish for soap, and hung some antique aprons on a line....
inside I placed sage from the garden (to smell nic-er) and some more of that lace you see on the chair above......and an antique photograph...........
well.........it took me over 3 days to rest and recuperate - but ALL worth it....every minute....

  2. very fun.
that 1879 number might be the bag number and not the year.
very few actually printed the year on the bags because they were re-used quite a bit.

  3. What a delight! Loved seeing your party photos and chuckled over the outhouse. People are funny, they should have been saying, "thank God I don't have to make this trek every time I need to go!" It's always 200 yards too close in the summer and 200 yards too far in the winter. -smile-

  5. Anne Marie -- I faithfully follow your blog-- for quite some time now --- and just love it! I'm always inspired.

We live out in the country and have about a section of land with abundant mesquite trees, so every year we have a Woodchopper's Ball. We invite families from our church and husband's workplace -- people who would have to pay ridiculous prices for firewood -- to come, bring families and enjoy being out in the country. Everyone dresses in jeans, longsleeve shirts, boots and workgoves and all the men and kids tromp around harvesting firewood for everyone's fireplaces for the winter. The women all bring pots full of stews and soups and all kinds of breads and desserts. In the a.m. we chop wood, in the p.m. we visit, play games and watch football together. It is soooo much fun ! We feel so blessed to share what we have been given by the LORD with others.

Anyway, I am inspired to decorate our big back screened in porch for the occasion this year....because of your inspiring me. Yaaaahoooo it's gonna be fun !!!

  13. Those cocoa bags are enviable! Great find - love it when the husband brings goodies home.
I loved your harvest table with the bales of straw seating, the alter of course and the, hmmm, don't know really what it would be called, railing, divider-thingy - the wood one that was just to the right when you walked in.
And, I must say - very cool editing, Mom couldn't even tell who that person was!
Without a dime you threw a great party - if you ever win the lotto, everyone better watch out!!!

It was soo much fun at your party! My favorite part was the big swing on the tree out back and we had a lot of fun playing volleyball! And the bonfire was the perfect touch at the end of the night! Thank you so much for everything, Anne!

  18. Anne Marie, Ooooooh.... the little boy on the saddle is adorable.

All I ever wanted to live in for years was a barn, a very big one as I have sooooo much stuff and I need space to create in. I just love barns.

We have shearing shed balls here in Australia, the wonderful smells and character of these old sheds are just divine. Everyone always has a great time.

This all looks fantastic, I wish I was there.

    xx Coty
