In October, my heart is usually beguiled by Autumn……but with only a few sunny days here upon the farm, the love I had was broken……..
Guarded, I reached for the opportunity to decorate my entryway with “flair”……..
How humble I became after the garden went through a complete frozen slumber one evening…………my heart just ached for those pleasurable vegetables...........even the sweet sound of the birds have ceased………as well as the sound of my hands within the ground……
Through this humility, I put this “flair of decorating my entryway” to rest promptly after that frost, and wrapped my entry in simplistic love, with a saved fairy rose branch from under our mournful Madonna statue that resides in the garden, and an unearthed oriental plate from our many digs here on the farm, and that is all……

Beautiful roses! Your entry is simply lovely! I love your new blog header! It's perfect! So sorry to hear your autumn is not happening. The weather is not to great here now. Rain again here..possibly up to 2 inches today. I'm wondering if my kids will be coming home early from school due to flooding again.Take Care!

my heart beats with yours
ReplyDeleteyour entry beckons me to come again!
We also experienced a frost this weekend, but just at dusk the evening before, I went out, scissors in hand, and clipped several of MY roses, as well as a few daisy/mums and brought them in. That is the heartbreak of autumn...how, overnight, all that was still living in the garden, has ceased to be. Until nect spring, when, miraculously, life comes forth again.
ReplyDeleteWe have not had a frost yet, but the cooler air is taking a toll on all my precious floral beauties. As they all rest, I await the brilliant paintings of autumn as she nestles in for the exquisite beauty of winter (unfolds) ... & soon that little seed will receive warmth to bring forth its new life in the spring.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful crisp autumn day. TTFN ~Marydon

ReplyDeleteOh, Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteYu just have to think that you had a short Autumn and welcome the frosts of Winter, which are truly magical. I am a girl (?) with a glass half full, and look for the positives in disappointments. Your hall looks delightful and your roses are beautiful. XXXX
