Everything about this apple can be used - minus the stem and leaves -
homemade applesauce is such an easy way to start...........
as is dried apples (one of my favorites) - and the best recipe I have found is that you slice them pretty thin, place on a cooling rack - do not let them touch- in a 200* oven for about an hour -they didn't even make into a preserving jar..........the kids ate them..........
even those peelings make a fantastic jelly.........
also look for tea recipes...........drying the peelings for potpourri.............

Oh, yes!! I can see where you are going and I love it!! Your blog is going to be a wonderful reference source. And I love your new design. What a stylish woman you are, Anne Marie!! Love your scarves and skirts!

I use my apples like this too. I learned that from my MIL. I thought she was crazy when I first saw her make jelly out of the peelings but it was to die for jelly and I was hooked!!! I just bought my apples and I am getting ready to put them up!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your header!!!!
oh dear...where to start? 1st....love your new header...that is such a fun photo of you!
ReplyDeletenot much gets wasted her, either. if we don't eat it, the chickens do!

I love your header with the photo of you up against that antique car. I must be an antique too, because I can remember wanting a car exactly like the one in your photo, minus the rust, but instead, my mother bought a shiny, black Impala that she later regretted owning...she should have listened to her five year old (that would have been me, l.o.l.)
ReplyDeleteThe apples look yummy!

I recently found your blog and I am enjoying it very much. Very inspiring. I shall return!
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie,
ReplyDeleteYou make everything look so delicious, even the skin of the apples.
Thanks for dropping by my blog this week and for your lovely commments. I have been having a very lazy week with Bec and Thomas who are on holidays again! Lots of sleeping and reading, it's been very nice.
Have a fantastic week,
xx Coty
Oh! I have one of those apple peelers and as we are going into autumn I may just have to put it to good use then! Thanks again for the inspiration. Ange
ReplyDeleteI need to use my oven. I like my dehydrator, but it is old and takes forever. My kids (and me) were like yours in that they ate the apple chips as quickly as I could get them out. Working on some right now...
