I was trying to be all serious taking these photos the other day.....getting the light just right.....putting the feathers just so....
but then I took a closer look at this old photo I put in a flower frog, and realized something....
that's going to be me in about 50 years.
so I diverted my attention to the eggs......under the cloche I took off the new cabinet
Gilberta (God bless her) has been blessing us with 2 eggs a day! lately.......
and then we have a few hens who are laying all sorts of brown colors this year.........
we all need change in our life! there is no better time than now to introduce change
some say chickens (the bird brains that they are) are just "creatures of habit"
yes, this could be true to a point, but I see Sir Charles leading 'his ladies' in all sorts of directions, exploring new areas of the farm, getting close to cats, taking risks by laying 3 or even 4 eggs a day.......so I say "no!" they are not creatures of habit, but rather, they know their purpose, and they enjoy life.
but alas.......I digress.........
yup
it's official
I'm going to turn out to be this toothless lady aren't I
sorry babe.
I pray you are all doing well! and I am overwhelmed at the amount of requests for "Elizabeths" to be sewn......I did take her out of the store for a bit, so I can pay attention to her details....I do hand sew her with much care, but if you are interested in having me sew one just for you, then just give me an e-mail, and I'll make sure I buy enough linen for yours:

Have a wonderful day everyone!
~and a big HELLO! to all my new readers....I hope you enjoy your time on the farm~
God bless.
Well, Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love your photograph of the feathers and the old book....so beautiful. You really did get the light just right.
I really don't think that you will turn out like the lady in the photograph !! We have really good dentists nowadays !!... and you always look lovely and have a great sense of style. Anyone who can make an Elizabeth will NEVER look like that.
Your chickens are living a wonderfil life and muct be very content to be laying so well. Sir Charles is just expanding thier horizons !! XXXX
But you can still eat eggs when you're toothless!
ReplyDeleteI love opening the carton I buy from a local farm and seeing all the different colored eggs. that always pleases me.
What a beatiful romantic picture you paint..Congrats on your success on your creations..Cynthia
ReplyDeleteYou'll be toothless and I'll have mole hair.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pair we will make.
I do see myself looking more like the old lady in Sweet Land though... on the farm (what farm? any farm! ) but with my red lips and cheetas.
You are so funny, I don't think you will look like the old lady in the photo. You are truly a lovely lady!.
ReplyDeleteYou are getting a lot of eggs very cool..
Stop by when you get a chance, I am having my very first 100th post give a way.
Take care and enjoy your day,
Hugs, Elizabeth
Hello there, I have just found your comment on an older post, so sorry I didn't get back to you...I sell the medals for about $10 each...I know thats high but prices in California are so much higher than midwest..I saw some at a garage sale the other day and thats how much he wanted..so that being said..thank you for your inquiry..if you are still interested let me know..perhaps a trade??
ReplyDeleteHi Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteLol you are doing much better than I did with chickens. One of the first years on our farm, I decided to buy chickens to butcher in the fall (I can't believe I even thought I could do this) So like my grandmother I knew you bought the chicks in the spring and they layed their eggs all summer and you butchered them in the fall. Except I bought chickens that were fast growing, I believe they were called Redriver something. They were to be butchered in 3 to 6 weeks instead I kept them all summer and they ate me out of house and home. They were so tuff they couldn't even be used for soup.
Have a wonderful week
Blessings
Hi Anne-Marie,
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog. Was sent by a mutual friend blogger. I went reading other posts. Your blog is unique and beautiful.
Anne-Marie
Oh Anne Marie-
ReplyDeleteAs usual as I began to read your post, I started to feel relaxed.
Then I saw the photo-which is charming- and I read your comment and I began to giggle.
Yes indeed-
I enjoyed my time on the farm today.
