Cancer Rose Pin...

Recently, a new friend, a totally sweet and lovable woman, someone I had just met and "clicked" with, was diagnosed with Cancer.......

When someone has a baby, you "bring a meal"

When someone just lost a loved one, you pray and grieve with them

But this Cancer thing left me feeling helpless!

I don't like feeling like that
While praying for her the other day, the sun was setting and I took "it's" picture:
the colors were stunning......and you can't see it in the photo, but a bird landed on one of the branches on that pine tree you see, and I instantly was inspired.......

to finally do something for her.......
I made my new friend a pin

it's not much, but to me, because of how I was praying for her + the sunset + the bird landing...

well, it was all so touching....

yet unexplainable....just like Cancer

I hope she likes it, and if you are going through what I am
going through with a friend or loved one,
maybe just giving them a token,
like this rose pin
to let her know
that you
are
thinking of her, praying for her, and all the other crazy
emotions this Cancer thing does to
not only her
but all who love and adore her

  2. Anne Marie, You are very thoughtful and the rose pin is such a lovely gift for your friend. Being a breast cancer survivor myself, I understand. The greatest gifts you can give are your prayers and your friendship....you've given both. May God Bless you and your friend. Mumzie

  3. Lovely...
    I hate cancer...
It is an unwelcome guest in our home right now.
    overstayed it's welcome...
    and like an unwanted intruder...
we're patiently waiting for it to leave.
May your friend beat this thing.

  4. what a lovely gesture..when my mil died and we cleaned out the farmhouse, i found dozens of hankies given to her by he students over the years as we used to do to elementary school teachers at givft giving times. most of course had never been used, but she had kept each one. no one wanted them. i did. i laundered them and starched them and keep them neatly in a box. whenever someone i know needs a lift for any reason, cancer, death, or just a bad time, i mail them one and say a little prayer for the recipient. it's not much, but really, who wouldn't want a vintage (very) linen (mostly) hankie?? love your idea and your kindness.

  5. Sorry sweetie..
Didn't mean to freak you out with my last comment.
My love was diagnosed with stage 4 colon and liver cancer in January...
We have been going through Chemo and have one more round to go in a week and then we'll know if it worked well enough to enable him to have surgery...
If we get to have surgery we have a chance to beat this dragon...So all our hopes are in that basket so to speak.
    Have a great day...
we're off to a birthday party for a 7 year old...
You know that will be fun!!!
    xoxo~Kathy...

  15. I too have been following your blog daily, though haven't left a comment yet. Found your beautiful, transparent, inspiring and humbling blog through the rec of a friend - we are both hooked on your love and zeal for life, simplified. You articulate so much of what is felt in heart! I'm sorry for your grieving and think your incredibly thoughtful (and beautiful hand-made!) gesture of love will be much appreciated by your friend. I'm a 29 year old woman and mama to two with our 3rd on the way who is just walking through my husband & mother-in-law's cancer diagnoses right now... I can say that the love and prayers of friends and family are felt in immeasurable ways. The tangible love of Christ through others is often what helps get through the tough days. May God fill your hearts with peace and hope...

  20. Anne Marie~ It is a touching token...from your heart. Your friend is lucky to have you by her side through this.

I fell in love with your 'Marie' pin and 'if' I could have I would have purchased it. The medalion is what I love on these pins you make. I will buy one someday. I have used your 'marie' as a button for you on my blog. Is that okay?

AND your new header is sweetness to my soul. I find such peace here and you are a beautiful soul.

  28. OH Anne Marie, The pin is gorgeous and your heart is so precious! I will be praying for you and your friend. I have watched helplessly as friends and family have gone through cancer. It can be so painful, but sometimes so victorious as they, with the Lords help, beat that nasty disease. My dear friend Pam recently battled for years and won and was up singing in the choir @ church on sunday. Not a dry eye in the congregation.
    I'll be praying for victory!
    Many Blessings to you,
    Molly
