patient thinnings...

If you are patient enough, you can wait to thin your carrots in the garden - such as these -

they are tender, crisp, and sweet.....

(Native American heirloom variety)

cleaned up a bit and sauteed, or eaten raw, they make a delicious side dish to any meal

  1. Love these! I am a huge baby carrots fan and always look for them at the produce section. I especially love the deep purple ones. They are delicious when rosted with a bit of olive oil.

  12. Ooo, thanks for the idea Angie! My purple ones should be ready soon!
Anne, you are so right, it takes a lot of patience to thin carrots, it's one of my least favorite tasks to do in the Potager.
This styling you have done here is perfect!

  14. Anne Marie, I have to admit that after I read your post I had to have baby carrots for dinner. And they were delicious; probably not as delicious as I think homegrown ones but delicious nonetheless. :)
