when i found out Jenn Rizzo, was having a hutch party, i knew right away i'd be joining in on the fun!

it was missing a handle, so i stuck in this rusty rooster pin my sister gave me
it was in my dining room...but then one day, i moved it to the kitchen...for more storage nearby where i prepare foods and such...
and i'm so glad i did
in the bottom of it, is my food processor and Bosch mixer, as well as a collection of cookbooks and canning suppplies...

original beautiful paint on it - but sealed for safety
it changes with the season...
like last year: it was last fall after making apple jelly
but now...it's for legumes, nuts, dried peppers, rice, and some beloved items

do you remember reading about the safety pin? I told you I kept it!
You can join in on the fun too!! Just visit Jenn for today's party!!!

Coming by via the hutch party. This is a pretty piece and I am so glad you kept it's pretty wood look. I am wondering if we are going to regret painting everything white one of these days!
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty canning and jars as displays! Nothing better for beauty then canned goods to me!
Haven't even started that fall decor process as I am trying to get tons of canning done-

I love hutches and china cabinets. I really enjoyed today's post. For some reason it makes me think of my grandmother many, many years ago when I would spend time in her country kitchen and I loved her cupboards and side-boards. Lovely blog. Deb =^..^=x5 Ottawa, Canada

Hi Anne Marie!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your blog and love everything about it. I am wondering if you could advise me a bit on sealing the old chippy paint as you mentioned. I have many chipped paint items in my home that I love to decorate with, but I am nervous about safety. How do you seal it without making it look "NEW" and "SHINY" - what do you use?
Thanks so much - blessings to you and your family!
hi jenni + michael...hope you get this here...i didn't see another way to contact you:
ReplyDelete-my hubby says to use a flat varnish or even the good ol' shalack...you can also use an all natural beeswax....
hope that helps!
