linen addiction..

when you decorate your interior, sometimes, you just work with what you have right?

does this apply to sewing clothing?

in my case....sadly.....no

it's been a bust over here trying to sew with this fabric i purchased locally - a thin cotton - but it just wasn't turning out -

so.....i reached for the linen...and it's much better!
picture taken in "Bridgette's conservatory" that I'm erecting for the sale...

i'm officially addicted to sewing with linen now (that and eating macrons, which my husband went to the store to buy along with the champagne for the Friday night event on October 8th...did you know that it's champagne and ball gown night?...anyhow...he looked all over Trader Joe for some macrons - none! - so the sales lady told him to buy 'this other cookie...it's very similar' or so he was told.....they taste like pecan dog biscuits - ummm - nothing remotely close to macrons)
detail of the back

linen....there's nothing like it....and even though it costs more than other fabrics, it is so worth it.....

this particular line of clothing per my design is called "Bridgette"

this and other tops just like it will be for sale at the sale

(and most likely, items similar in my etsy shop)

  9. I love linen too. I've been working on linen bedding. I've got the ruffley shams done and just need to finish with the duvet. It makes me happy every time I enter the room.

  14. I just know that Bridgette's conservatory will be lovely. Wish I could see it in person and know you must be working so hard on it to get it just right. All lovely things are certainly worth the hard work, that's how I feel about my little French-inspired garden area filled with pebbles... it means so much I did it on my own. I know you must feel the same, Anne Marie.

Thank you for your kind comment, I agree, I think we both we've our faith and gratefulness of another day into our posts.

  15. Look at that linen rose....oh my, so beautiful!
Is it a brooch? If not...I think you have to take that into consideration (if I can say that!)...it would be beautiful on coats, purse, knitwear, bags and even on sweater, why not?!
    I would surely have one!!

  17. I stumbled upon you somehow, maybe by fate, because you remind me of myself. I also have the farm, the potager (which I did not even plant this year due to severe drought) and I also LOVE to sew. I see those rosettes everywhere-however do you make them? I stare at the pictures and try and figure it out in my mind. I had to laugh at one of your older posts that I read when you discovered that you lost money at your barn sale. I know exactly how that works as I have also had a few sales here at my farm and when it is all said and done and I have paid for all the "stuff" there really isn't any money left, but...it's all about the fun, right? I wish I lived closer so that I could come to your sale. Love your blog! I share your values and will be a regular follower.

  22. Beautiful, Anne Marie, just beautiful!

Hope you are feeling better...you must be to have accomplished so much or is it just "mind over matter"?!!! Sometimes us girls just gotta do what we gotta do!

I, for one, have begun to feel like a million bucks since little man began sleeping through the night! (Well, as long as a nursing baby sleeps thru the night (midnight to 5 AM...but I'll take it!!!)

    Blessings,
    val

  23. I am with you there Anne-Marie - linen has spoilt me for anything else (although I have started fantasising about mohair velvet for a chair). there is something about the traditional fabrics - wool and linen - which is satisfying - I don't want anything else!

  24. . . . and how is it you know what *dog biscuits* taste like???!!!! ;-)

    (I couldn't help myself, he-he-he!)

  25. I love your linen color choices - esp the dark blue. Navy and gray together are so surprisingly feminine.

I wish I could've come to the sale.. my own "due date" (which came and went with nothing coming due) was the 10th. But my bday was the 8th! I'll pretend we were having some celebratory champagne together. =)
