linen addiction..

when you decorate your interior, sometimes, you just work with what you have right?

does this apply to sewing clothing?

in my case....sadly.....no

it's been a bust over here trying to sew with this fabric i purchased locally - a thin cotton - but it just wasn't turning out -

so.....i reached for the linen...and it's much better!
picture taken in "Bridgette's conservatory" that I'm erecting for the sale...

i'm officially addicted to sewing with linen now (that and eating macrons, which my husband went to the store to buy along with the champagne for the Friday night event on October 8th...did you know that it's champagne and ball gown night?...anyhow...he looked all over Trader Joe for some macrons - none! - so the sales lady told him to buy 'this other cookie...it's very similar' or so he was told.....they taste like pecan dog biscuits - ummm - nothing remotely close to macrons)

linen....there's nothing like it....and even though it costs more than other fabrics, it is so worth it.....

this particular line of clothing per my design is called "Bridgette"

this and other tops just like it will be for sale at the sale

(and most likely, items similar in my etsy shop)

barn prep...

  and a quick "checklist"
powerwash............check

hay bales moved.........check

inspiration for it all........check!!

 up before sunrise.........CHECK!

energy level.............check (but could be better...lol)

the sun rose amongst the prairie with a thick haze
(kind of how i started the day...and actually very much like a part of Bridgette's story...where do you think i get my ideas??...the prairie of course!)

and it was super awesome
(yes - i said awesome)

Bridgette has a conservatory in the story that she fixes up as much as the overgrown building can take......

lots of twigs

logs....roots....lots of natural elements.....

old weathered gates
i do have to use some things on the farm as display only - i know you understand why...

i even got a little help from my sweet one!!

notice the saddle in the wheelbarrow.....now that's the way to ride at the farm!

i'm seriously have the BEST time decorating for this sale...

dare i say even more than the May sale?

yes

i do dare say that!!!!!!

(i'll show you more this week...)

xo + blessings!!

plaid bolero...

what did i sew you asked?

plaid items.......of this and that........

with you in mind.......from my hands and farm......to you!

and my plaid bolero for the Friday night champagne ball gown night!!

so that's what I'll be wearing!!

here's those cards that I finished for the sale as well......they just looked like something Bridgette would make in the barn

i made them out of vintage photographs and hand sewn on embellishments

i have 'sew' much more to do.....and will share all this week on everything i'm doing to the barn....
you know...the fun part of the sale!

surprisingly enough...Ange and I have only known each other for a little over a year...

photograph taken by Angela of the Patiserrie we filled!! all homemade!
when we did meet, an instant connection happened with two things:

we both have a potager (we do NOT know of anyone else who designed their gardens that way...at least, not in the USA!)

and our love for a couch - it's actually pretty hilarious how much we do have in common

I cursed the word "blog" at one time, but I had been sorely mistaken, and am so amazed at the men and women who have entered my life...both virtually and in person
us in May with our vintage ball gowns on (after a couple of glasses of champagne)

If you can't make it to the sale, Ange ships anywhere! her macrons even made it to a birthday party in Canada along with a Marie Antoinette style coffee table!!!

she's the paris to my prairie

Jenn's Hutch Party!

when i found out Jenn Rizzo, was having a hutch party, i knew right away i'd be joining in on the fun!
it was missing a handle, so i stuck in this rusty rooster pin my sister gave me

it was in my dining room...but then one day, i moved it to the kitchen...for more storage nearby where i prepare foods and such...

and i'm so glad i did

in the bottom of it, is my food processor and Bosch mixer, as well as a collection of cookbooks and canning suppplies...

original beautiful paint on it - but sealed for safety

it changes with the season...

like last year: it was last fall after making apple jelly

but now...it's for legumes, nuts, dried peppers, rice, and some beloved items

do you remember reading about the safety pin?  I told you I kept it!

You can join in on the fun too!!  Just visit Jenn for today's party!!!

xo+blessings,
it's tuesday morning fashion here on the farm...
(Sir Charles helped me awake...good ol' rooster)

well, it's actually what I wore Saturday out with my daughter...
(i seriously cannot believe i'm sharing this photo...i hate getting my picture taken! and i look like such a dork...I'm all serious here...yeah...i'm pretty serious most of the time actually...)

so many of you ask me:
"what do you wear on daily basis..."

this sums it up
skirt, headscarf, soft shirt of some kind
and usually something in denim

i love denim

it's one of my favorite outfits

made the skirt (shirting material)

bought the jacket, shirt, headscarf and shoes

brand new shoes - heels even! - i know...i'm so branching out...

they are made in the usa! and i bought them locally...

being that I'm in my fourth month of pregnancy, this look is NOT staying long...

TOMORROW IS MY GOOD FRIEND JENN'S BIG PARTY!

COME AND JOIN HER!

I AM!

xo+blessings,
