whenever I come across fabric that speaks to me, for whatever reason, I purchase it......

whether it's vintage.....antique from France.......or new.......

this fabric is so luxurious.........silky...........so feminine...........I had to play around and take it's picture up my stairway to show you it's glory.......

it will be transformed into a few gowns..........which you could wear to the Boho-Ball that I'm hosting here at the farm May 20th - the Friday night event -

being no stranger to creating gowns, this is one sewing project that I'm so excited to get started on

NEW to the farm!!!

My eldest daughter and I created a new product line (it was all her brilliant idea) called

"the sweet life"

We have had so much fun with this new product line...and there is so much more I didn't share here...

I have SO broken out of my box with working with only linen products, and now have

embraced recycled felt (like on the cake I made for her display) and vintage trims I have had

accumulating...always loved the colors, and now have a use for them!

a great way to brighten up your days! is working with color!!

a "little project" my daughter and I worked on this week

for her new very first line of products....

I'm so excited for her...and absolutely LOVE encouraging her, working with her,

and of course had to give you a peek at what it is

8-10" of snow in store for us.......yeah!  The kids' Christmas gift was going snowboarding and if we get this powder they are saying, then it'll make their fun time in the snow that much more fun.....

sacred heart journals...

Writing for me, and for many of you, is a daily occurrence...and I think it's so fantastic what blogs have done for inner personal growth and documentation of feelings, ideas, inspiration, etc.

and I think most of you would agree with me

that's what inspired me to created these

 hand stitched fabric covered Sacred Heart Journals

(they are filled with lined paper)

each one unique

each one made by hand, by me, here on the farm...

whatever you feel and think from your heart is sacred

color...

over the weekend, my inspiration has only grown for color pops in my own home, and for items I'm hand - stitching and creating for the May event........

here's some pictures that I thought I'd share about (kind of) what I'm thinking about........

this one, is one of my favorites....look at that couch fabric......and oil painting - totally different styles - but with the white walls and the elegant chandie it is perfect

  oh man - this one is bold - but as you may know, I collect oil paintings, take off the frames, and put them up that way.....this room/corner, looks like THE best spot to get more inspiration.......

  this one actually surprised me with the pink check (see?? all that pink - I am just all over that lately)

the hand painted flowers and color combinations are all scaled up just right.......besides, my oldest daughter loves this picture......

  last, but certainly not least, is this picnic scene I fell across while perusing the net - I am not sure exactly if it's for a couture shoot, or for a fabric company (there was no photo credit available) but I'm so pleased to share with you that for the Friday night of the May event here, it very much will have this 'vibe' about it...........

pink on the prairie...

there are plans to recover these chairs...but to this absolute amateur in re-upholster,

this project is going to wait

for the time being, I'm really enjoying the romantic prairie look in this farmhouse even more

and for $70 for the pair, I seriously couldn't pass these up

what is Anne Marie thinking...

yes, about the baby due in a few short weeks...but honestly, this May Event is really the best thing that could be for me right now......a blessing if you will.......

My Hungarian roots are colorized by the true gypsy blood that runs through my veins...

stories of dirt floor huts, and brushing the dirt with a special rake to make patterns in the floor when company comes to visit.........seriously........

no joke!!  I am from Gypsy Blood

(I know what you are thinking...."oooohhhh....that explains it!)  lol

you have no idea how badly I want to make a gypsy hut of my own........

or at least bring in more textures and colors into my home decor.......

so I'm trying...... 

I just bought 2 pink chairs for my living room - PINK!

(do you think my gypsy soul is telling me it's a girl?) 

Our home is pretty 'prairie farmhouse', but I came up with a new one that I really like:

"PRAIRIE GYPSY"

I tend to dress the same way...sometimes pure linen with simple drop earrings....or a classic long denim skirt with a t-shirt top and funky hat or head scarf

it never is the same

and neither should my "decorating"

I am no decorator...not one bit do I think so, but I do like expressing myself around my home

with sometimes new furniture, new drapes I made, or a simple throw

and don't you worry!  I am still focused on that master bedroom!!

my workspace is rather cluttered right now...especially since that hutch was moved to the kitchen...but I rather like it right now....

it's dripping with lace, textures, color, and the scent of a rose...

For every Event on the farm, or any huge sewing project for a client, I always do an inspiration board

it keeps me focused and I'm surprised at how often things turn out how I

envisioned them in my head onto the board

all messy and random

(yup, that's pretty much sums me up)

i put on there:

vintage trim, buttons, inspiring pictures........

it's the lace and textures that are inspiring me for the May Event...

and pretty much my life in general

Where I sit...

I'm even enjoying making some mixed media art, with this as inspiration....

I also wanted to make sure you know about how another good friend Maria opened her

new online shop this past week

and it's gorgeously photographed and styled

be yourself...be creative (part I)

I had a conversation yesterday with a dear friend....

and what concerned me is that she thinks that being married, with children, that she couldn't 

do "the things she wants to do"

she didn't even know what that "thing" was

but like she had lost herself amongst the diapers and laundry 

Being that I can relate, she turned to me to seek advice...a shoulder...a friend

I told her "turn off the TV"

it really is that simple

The internet is there, I told her, and at any given time, you can watch your fav. programs or read blogs, etc....

but do it when your husband isn't home and the kids are busy with their activities

Watching TV takes up so much of people's time...energy...brain power....

but most of all:

CREATIVITY

I seriously do not know how I would be able to sew and help my kids do their art and projects and help my son build a castle out of blocks (and so much more) if I watched tv

My basic advice extended into a conversation based on

finding her creativity...

all of us have it.......and none of us are perfect.....but we all have special talents
