to be organized within these tasks we can then find time to devote in prayer and /or meditation
meal planning...
a huge responsibility in our lives, no matter how many children you have at home - and besides breathing, meal planning is the most often misused area of organization (hence fast food chains)
It may take some time, but trust me when I tell you it is worth it
So, we are going to start today....what do you have planned for supper? you should know...if you do not know, then let's find out...let's plan
On the net, there are so many wonderful places to find recipes, but let's start in your recipe box...you know, those good, great or delicious recipes tucked away in that cute box you have in the pantry from Grandma or Mom, or a good friend, or a neighbor down the road.....and don't forget those cookbooks and magazines
Where Women Cook is a magazine you can find online or in the bookstore...and is really more like a cookbook than a magazine...very well put together. This past Spring, 2011, right after Daniel was born, I had the privilege to cook and style and write for Where Women Cook...
I also had the honor to work together again with my very good friend and amazing food photographer, Traci Thorson.
it was a 'Family Pizza Night'....
Gathering together for meals is certainly nothing new...and pizza is such a fun and easy way to bring the whole family together with ingredients fresh from the market, your pantry, or a quick trip to the store if it's winter...
You can find 'Family Pizza Night' on the farm in the March issue.........I grabbed this from the website...
To see more about Where Women Cook, and the issue my family and I are in, you can visit their website here: WWCook
So let's get a pen....print out these below documents I put together to share with you, and make some great family meals....get organized........and have some more time! imagine that!! more time to devote to your spirit
here's an easy to follow Menu Planner.....(and later this week I will put up a grocery list)...let's start this Sunday....you have the whole week to think of all those great recipes you want to share with your family...
Here's a quick recipe:
Chicken and Peaches with Sweet Potatoes...
Take one package of hormone free + organic chicken thighs.....put them in your crock pot with a can of (home-preserved preferably) peaches with the juice........slice 3 sweet potatoes and put them on top.......then slice 1 small onion and put that on top of the sweet potatoes.......let simmer 7 hours and it's time to ring that dinner bell
peace + blessings,

I live very similar to you and even though my kids graduated homeschooling and are busy with jobs and college (my baby is the only one left in HS), they all still live at home and still need their mama(me) to cook homemade healthy meals for them. I enjoy growing our own veggies and cooking from scratch...I rarely use recipes because I've always liked creating my own meals. But this crockpot meal looks delicious and guess what? I have never made anything like it! I am definetly trying it. Thank you Anne Marie.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious. I love sweet potatoes so this sounds like something I would love trying. It also sounds easy and easy is good.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne Marie.
Oh I also love sweet potatoes so I agree this looks like a great recipe to try!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being in the magazine....Cute pics...
ReplyDeleteHi Anne Marie, I live by a menu...if I don't see it on the fridge some days then I am stumped as to what to cook...when the weeks are busy and you may not feel on top of everything, the menu sees me through......the children love it, and get confused if I swap the meals, hey, its Tuesday , its meant to be pasta tonight not stirfry..! Seriously, it helps me with food storage and pantry rotating and my shopping bill is the better for it because I only buy what I need for that week and pantry top ups.
ReplyDeleteDear Anne Marie!
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog..it's beautiful! Your children, your house, your kitchen...everything are wonderfull. I'm sorry: I dont speak english, just a little. I'm a hungarian woman.I have a little son: Aron. He is 8 years old. I love decorating, sewing, cooking, eating... :))
We live in a little village in Hungary, it is a hilly area with beautilful forests. There are goats, chickens, ducks, geese.Every summer I'm doing goat cheese, gardening, although it is not easy because I have to go to work in the office as well.
Now there are heavy snow and very cold, but beautiful sight.Have a nice day!
God bless you!
So nice! Love little Daniel looking at that plate of food in your hands : ) How exciting you and your kitchen are in WWC magazine!!
ReplyDeleteOh how much I love this post!!
ReplyDeleteI'd really need to plan my menus (even if I've never done it before I can assure you I never go to fast food nor buy ready meals...I just open my fridge, pay a visit to my pantry and then my imagination comes out with something nice! I think I am a bit advantaged since I live in Italy...known for good food!).
Hey girl....you look stunning in those pics...you beautiful woman!!
With love
Fra
Hi Anne Marie! Congratulations on being featured...I am going to go buy that magazine! I think they sell it at a couple of places here in town. Thank you for the simple and delicious looking recipe. I am tucking that one away and will try it soon:).

it was such an honor and a great time working with you on that feature. plus the pizza was amazing.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see you in my new fav magazine! Congrats to you, it's well deserved. I've been enjoying your blog, love your soul-filled view of life and ideas on family and living well. I'm a new wife to a farmer, learning, gardening and growing! Thank you for sharing life! -Amy
ReplyDeleteYummy! sounds wonderful. Gary and I cook together every night..I might have to clean up after him, but its worth it and so nice to catch up with eachother's day while we prepare our meal. Families should cook and plan meals together, when our girls were at home we always had dinner at the same time and always together. The girls were busy with school, friends, softball, soccer and cheer, but no matter what was going on "Dinner Together as a Family" was what we did.
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet day and the photo's are beautiful!
Big hugs, Elizabeth
I cannot wait to pick up my copy!

That sounds AMAZING! I'm going to try that tomorrow night. The kids and I did homemade pizza tonight and they are begging for those donuts you make out of biscuits. So good but so bad. =)
ReplyDeleteThe photos look wonderful. I can't wait to get my copy of the book! Congratulations - again!! You deserve all the wonderful articles!!
Blessings... Polly
Congratulations on your magazine feature, Anne-Marie! What a blessing you are to many busy women out here who are frantically trying to raise their broods, keep a clean home, manage finances, and cook healthy meals. It's just wonderful that you're truly making a difference! Hubby and I have a huge organic veggie garden which we can and freeze as much as possible from it in the fall. We also have cherry, apple, and pear trees on our 12 acres - and I've pitted so many cherries I think I can do it in my sleep. lol! Not to mention juicing pears and apples and blackberries! Hubby loves making pies with the fruit, too (yup, he's the baker in the family!). We have been deeply blessed with our life out here in the country...and for that, we are grateful. :)
