what makes a boy a "cowboy"?
an old western album to start...
(he's wearing his Papa's old leather jacket and boots in these photos)
(my favorite picture)
here's what I chose as essentials for a 'cowboy birthday party'
to feed a crowd?
soup
homemade chicken soup with our homegrown heirloom carrots
decor is simple.......his Papa's cowboy hat with turquoise studs, and well worn boots throughout the room....
an old branding iron, candlelight, some rope, animal skins and flannel on the table
but we mustn't forget John Wayne....
this project our oldest son did a few years back for 4-H (blue ribbon project) was our
little cowboy's highlight...he likes John Wayne....
I'm not a fan of kids' birthday parties with store bought stuff as decor...usually, you have things already in your home to pull off a simple party for your kids without all that disposable 'stuff'
*what they really want is good food, cake and just you and the family there*
Happy Friday
(where did this week go?)
xo+blessings,

I agree!!! Most of our boys' parties are bonfires.

Fantastic photographs too Anne Marie....you are a wonderful photographer.I just know that he would have LOVED his birthday and couldn't have asked for a better one. XXXX
You know, I think we put a LOT of pressure on ourselves for kid parties. It can be such a simple theme! My oldest wants to have another knight party--we're going to have each boy create their own castle using huge cardboard boxes and paint...the games will be in the back yard, the fun will be memorable!
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie, you lil' cowboy is adorable! Your pictures are amazing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Boy! does he look like a real cowboy, too!! Sooo sweet! I know what you mean about those store bought birthday decor. What you used looks great and suits your sweet son.
