there are plans to recover these chairs...but to this absolute amateur in re-upholster,
this project is going to wait
for the time being, I'm really enjoying the romantic prairie look in this farmhouse even more
and for $70 for the pair, I seriously couldn't pass these up
*on a personal note...*
thank you all so much for being so sweet to me and my "ideas"
and putting up with the random thoughts
you all make me smile every time I read your comments...and I mean that
*thank you*
have a fantastic weekend!
xo+blessings,

Gorgeous chairs, Anne Marie! I think they look beautiful in your prairie home...just as they are, or with a make-over. That was a fabulous bargain :)

Are you sure you want to recover them? They have such a sweet romantic feel to them...I love steals like this!
ReplyDeleteI sure do enjoy reading about your farm life!

Dear Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic chairs......and, what a bargain. I cannot believe that you only paid $70 for both of them. If they were for sale in London, they would be ££££££'s !!
Hope you are feeling well....it can't be very long now until there is a new little person at Na-Da Farm !! XXXX
I was hoping you would reveal your chairs. I like the fabric...you may fall in love with it over time. Great deal and they look so at home.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
70? what a total score!!!!
ReplyDeleteyay you!!
as traci mentioned earlier this week regarding YOU...is there anything YOU can't do?
xo
LOVE the chairs and I'm kinda a "fly by the seat of your pants" type of person too when it comes to random thoughts--no apology needed!!!
ReplyDeleteThe pink chairs... yay! They're a pretty soft pink color. Wow... $70for the pair is a great deal! They sure do have a pretty shape to them. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend, sweet Anne Marie!
xoxo,
Jo :)
Good chairs Anne-Marie - Kate from Centsational Girl has a tutorial on double welting that almost makes me want a chair to practice on - aww, go on, recover them!
ReplyDeleteOh, i think these chairs are adorable (just as they are)... So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHello Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteI just started following your blog and love it! Those chairs are so pretty and romantic. Definitely keepers for that price.
Wish I lived closer to visit your May event.

I love your new chairs and I don't know that I would cover them, I think they look beautiful just the way they are.

Ann-Marie,
ReplyDeleteLoving the pink fabric! I have been adding little bits of pink here and there in my home...love the classic and romantic feel pink can bring to a room! You will never believe...I have 2 chairs similar to yours! lol I bought them at the Goodwill back in NM when we lived there a year and a half ago. I bought them for $4 dollars ($2 a piece!)...I thought I had hit the jackpot!! They are a little more worn than yours and the fabric is hideous...they are waiting in the garage for their makeover. Going to do them in a soft blue and put them in our bedroom. I have done some re-upholstering, so if you have any questions if you do recover...happy to help! Enjoy!
Hugs and love,
Victoria
Beautiful Anne~Marie! Reminds me of this poem The Old Arm~Chair by Eliza Cook
ReplyDeleteI love it, I love it; and who shall dare
To chide me for loving that old Arm-chair?
I've treasured it long as a sainted prize;
I've bedewed it with tears, and embalmed it with sighs.
'Tis bound by a thousand bands to my heart;
Not a tie will break, not a link will start.
Would ye learn the spell? - a mother sat there;
And a sacred thing is that old arm-chair.
In childhood's hour I lingered near
The hallowed seat with listening ear;
And gentle words that mother would give;
To fit me to die, and teach me to live.
She told me shame would never betide,
With truth for my creed and God for my guide;
She taught me to lisp my earliest prayer;
As I knelt beside that old arm-chair.
I sat and watched her many a day,
When her eye grew dim, and her locks were grey:
And I almost worshipped her when she smiled,
And turned from her Bible, to bless her child.
Years rolled on; but the last one sped -
My idol was shattered; my earth-star fled:
I learnt how much the heart can bear,
When I saw her die in that old arm-chair.
'Tis past, 'tis past, but I gaze on it now
With quivering breath and throbbing brow:
'Twas there she nursed me; 'twas there she died:
And Memory flows with lava tide.
Say it is folly, and deem me weak,
While the scalding drops start down my cheek;
But I love it, I love it and cannot tear
My soul from a mother's old arm-chair.
Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteI am tackeling my first re-upholstering attempt... I'll let you know how it goes! Right now all the material is off and I'm working on sanding the frame.
On a random note, I can't wait for the barn sale! I loved the last one :-)
See you then!
