If I entitled this post "happy birthday" you would think I had the baby!
rest assured
no baby
however........it IS my (beyond awesome) husband's birthday today,
I only baked him this cake...
(his favorite...chocolate and peanut butter)
it's made with a deep and rich homemade chocolate cake(I used yogurt instead of sour cream)...organic homemade peanut butter frosting....and a mouth watering chocolate ganache topping
he said I could just give him a baby instead of "something else"
he also said he would have openened it earlier...but we'll both be surprised now
I love my husband so much words seriously cannot come close
- he loves nature...God....us...
and is such a talented carpenter as well....you can see some of his carpentry skills at:
Jennifer Rizzo's (he was the carpenter for her new kitchen)
and he also constructed Tracey's cabinet.....
and he's pretty much the reason why our farm
is featured in Fifi's book....if it wasn't for him, our farm would be in shambles.....
~i love you Jason~
and I'm so happy to tell you that he will be joining me on this blog about homesteading!
yeah!!
We are thoroughly engulfed in permaculture and agriforestry studies right now,
and we have so much to share with you...and hopefully
help you
If you want to know a little 'secret'.....I've been contracting pretty heavily....
yeah again!!!
xo+blessings,
p.s. you can find the recipe for the cake at Smitten Kitchen

Happy Birthday to your husband! And maybe he will get the ultimate birthday present too!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your husband! The cake looks so good! Wish I could bake one too! I will check out his craftsmanship on your friends blogs. Your photography is so beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteI have been sending prayers your way every day and hoping that your little one comes soon and that you are all healthy and happy. Is it ok to guess? I keep thinking due right about now... and that it will be a boy... after all there is a 50% chance I might be right :)
happy birthday to your lucky husband....a chocolate peanut butter cake AND you!
ReplyDeleteMy husband would love that cake- me too! It's a lovely present. We hope to be doing more farming here- we bought 12 acrs last year in Maine. I just had 15 apple trees pruned- they have been sadly neglected, but still give fruit. My chickens are happily laying, and we're thinking about a goat business- then hubby could stay home... Right now, two ponies will be joining us in April- fun for me and the kids. I look forward to your posts- perhaps you could give us a list of good reading for it too?
ReplyDeleteHappy birth- c'mom baby!!
Blessed women, are we not!
ReplyDeleteMy hubs is also named Jason and his b-day was the 22! :)
So, Happy Bithday, to your Jason!
I am having a giveaway`A copy of Flea Mkt Style mag and a sweet little birdie!
Come by...unless that new babe arrives!
xo, misha
My first time to your great blog through my friend Lisa Porter. Hoping your husband had a fabulous birthday? His cake was gorgeous! Just maybe you did give him the ultimate gift of being a father?! So very exciting.
ReplyDeleteGods blessing to you all ~ Deb
Such a sweet post to your husband. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband's birthday is the 25th.
(Aren't our birthdays the very same day? Nov 30th)
I think that's pretty funny...and serendipitous?
I am hoping this baby makes its sweet little appearance soon! I can't imagine the waiting and the impatience you must be feeling.
Hang in.
(Very excited for your homesteading posts. It's something I've been thinking about getting serious about for some time. I am starting my first "real" kitchen garden this year. We shall see...)
