our first attempt...

I received this book from a good friend this Christmas:

thanks Jenn

because she knows how much I do love them :)

she even brought me TWO boxes of macarons when I was expecting...because that's what friends do!

anyhow.......I haven't made any up to today.....but I had to get my mind off of how I'm looming to 2 weeks overdue....so this was a great distraction today......and totally worth the EASY EFFORT!

If you haven't made macarons.....don't be intimidated!! they ARE easy!!!

We even made our own fresh organic lemon curd and strawberry filling for the inside......
(when I saw "we" I mean my lovely daughter and I)
our strawberry jam-type filling macaron

 yes...I know that they are flat....(I don't care....and if you do...then I still don't care :)

our homemade organic lemon curd filled macaron

yum - o - ramma

no...they aren't perfect......but neither am I......and I don't care if they footed well or whatever

they were so fun and easy to make and I see many more happy days ahead
in the kitchen making these cookies

some people 'scoff' at a 'not so perfectly made' macaron...seriously?

who gives a darn!

get in that kitchen and try something different...something you have been wanting to do....

it's only sugar and almonds for pete's sake

enjoy that kitchen!!
(p.s. it's a heck of lot cheaper than buying them at Trader Joe's too...AND you know what's in them!)

  2. I see you are trying all different things to try and persuade this little one to sneek a peek outside...tell him its lovely, its spring where you are, he has brothers and sisters waiting to love him, and most of all mummy and daddy waiting to see his face and smell that newborn baby...oh, and there are macarons....what could be more tempting....
Are you running out of room for baby? Unfortunately, well , not unfortunately really as my 3 are pure blessings..I had to have three necessary c sections, so the mystery of waiting and knowing when a baby is ready, is all unknown and a bit magical to me...although the waiting, especially this long would be hard, I think it beats knowing down to the almost minute when your baby will be born...but again, I am so lucky to have them...I am sure it will not be much longer....xx Suzanne.

  7. Where is that baby!? Why don't you try eating some Mexican food Anne Marie? My first time around I went into labor after eating that :)

Those macaroons look yummy. I've never had one. Can you believe it? Me either.

I just had a thought. Wouldn't it be funny if your wee one arrived on April Fools day? I know you're thinking "No!" :)Tricia

  13. They look pretty good to me! Have you ever made tuiles? Egg whites, sugar and almonds (must be another ingredient but I can't remember it). Good for leftover egg whites because they are NOT meringues!

  15. An old saying from an Italian Nana, "the first one comes anytime, the second one comes in 9 months" or was it vice versa ???---make sense to you? if not, just thought I'd share.

    Hope he/she comes soon!

  24. I was first enticed by a beautiful rainbow of these beauties about a year ago on Parisienne Farmgirl's blog! I have yet to sink my teeth into one of them, but someday...someday!

Angela also had the cure for overdue babes...did you see it on her blog right before she had Juliette, she told what it was...perhaps your wee one could be "coaxed" to come in the same way? I have been overdue (four weeks for middle son!! Back in the stone ages!) and had I known I could help things along, I sure would have, as medically induced labor is awful!

Hoping to hear some baby news soon!

  26. You know, I have never eaten one.

  27. Hey- they look good enough to eat...and that is the goal, right? If you want pretty ones to sell, I am sure that takes practice. There are worse things to have to practice.

Hang in there. I was over 2 weeks once. It's worth it in the end...as you well know.
