boys' birthdays can be difficult....actually....children's birthdays can be....
we are celebrating our second son's birthday this weekend
and last night, I put together this:
it's a 'SURVIVAL KIT' for boys
it contains:
* a pair of binoculars
* caribeeners
* a camouflage handkerchief I made out of scrap camo-fabric
* a compass
I added a few little drawstring bags, and added sewn-in pockets on one of the inside walls
of the bag....
He's always going into the prairie with one of his older brother's bag, or a handkerchief tied into a bundle...or to the creek with his fishing pole and a snack in his pocket
he loves to sew himself, and I so I hope he likes his gift!
have a great rest of your weekend
(I'm buying the stork a GPS when he arrives)
xo+blessings,

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me so much of the birthday gifts my mom would make for me growing up.
ReplyDeleteHe will love it even more when he is 35! It will mean so much that his mama took the time to make that for him. ;o)
Happy Weekend to you!
Mary
Dear Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, sorry for not being around lately.....I am having terrible trouble with my computer AND Blogger !! Here's hoping that I'll be on track soon.
.....and, I felt sure that you would have had your baby by now. The baby must love it where he is and doesn't want to come into the world just yet !!
What a wonderful bag you have made for your son. He will be so well equipped for his expeditions into the prairie. Lots of love to you Anne Marie and I await the news of your baby's arrival. XXXX
That is just adorable!!;) You are so talented~ Hugs,Rachel

ReplyDeleteYou have made a wonderful gift for your son. I do hope your baby comes soon. It's so hard waiting at the end, you just want have a baby in your arms not in your tummy. :) You sound happy, positive and obviously still creative. Well done. I think I'd be mooching a bit by now if it was me. :) Take care and wishing you all the best for the birth of your baby.

you are pretty much my hero...
ReplyDeleteabout to give birth and still finding time and energy to sew an amazing bag/gift...i love it, super cool!
Such a cute rucksack! Your boy is one lucky little man, may it see him through many manly adventures with his brother(s)...! Can't wait to hear that the stork has found his destination at last! :0)

What a fab idea, any lil boys dream bag.Happy Birthday lil Man~Cheers Kim
ReplyDeleteVery clever idea--boy parties ARE harder to plan than girl's. We've done knight parties and sent the kids home with swords and hand--painted shields. That went over really well, too.
