"getting it"

Leaving yourself open and free to feel in the moment....that is what will cause your self to grow

I'm not saying abandon your morals and beliefs....on the contrary...you need those to keep yourself standing upright and better society and those around you

I'm talking about being in the moment

not judging others

seeing the beauty around you

it will change your life!!

This past weekend's sale/event confirmed that with not only me but my kids and my husband

Not everyone who came here is the same religion

Not everyone who shopped here had the same income

Not everyone who came here had the same background

But everyone who did come here chose to take the time to come here and be a part of the farm, for just a few hours up to a few days!!

If you are reading this, and the last post, and saying to your computer screen under your breathe (or even out loud to others or yourself) "Pah!  What the heck is she talking about??  It was just a sale! buying stuff!!"

Well you are free to think what you want, but you aren't letting yourself "get it"

Why don't you get it??  Because you aren't listening to me and the other women and men who came here and feel the same why I do............

When you surround yourself with other people that are positive thinkers...who want to be a part of something good and happy...when you are outdoors looking at all the creativity and inspiration....watching people meet for the first time....being able to meet and tell people how much you read their blogs....now THAT is inspiring and is humbling to say the least to see that happen on our little ol' farm

If you have a blog, and in that blog you write about your life...your feelings...then you know what I mean

Blogging has really made a connection between people who wouldn't normally be able to connect...and considering I am the way I am, I attest what I have experienced ONLY by the grace of God.

("oh man...now anne marie is bringing God into this....oh brother")

Oh Brother is right!!  There is no way I could experience what I am going through right now without the God's intervention...........and I thank Him daily for allowing Jason and I to be able to have this opportunity and ability to share that with others......

xo+positive farm blessings,

  3. Beautiful post Anne Marie! I believe we can learn things from everyone, even the most angry, negative people around, if we just listen.

Think how boring the world would be if everyone looked, acted, and though the same.

    Have a wonderful day!

  6. Good morning, Anne Marie. I think get it, too. Being around positive people, relaxing, and most importantly for me, being comfortable enough to be "myself" is priceless. I had a great time, and so did the friends I brought to your farm for the first time Friday night. On Saturday, I had the opportunity to take the mixed media class with Jeanne Oliver. She was so friendly and encouraging. I sat at a table with the BEST partners; Leah C of Family Matters & Everyday Chatter, Sheila R of Blessed and Distressed, and Tracey of French Larkspur. Great company, great atmosphere, and lots of positive energy. Thank you so much for opening your farm and life to us!

  9. Amen! I get it. I would have liked to spend the day on the farm sharing the love and inspiration. But, living on a 'farm', it's not often we are able to get away. Love to visit via blog-land! Thanks for sharing a bit of your life...

  10. Oh how you have such a beautiful way about you - I loved reading your thoughts in this post & the previous one about the farm sale. The pictures are lovely & I wish I could have come in person & given you a big hug for the way you live these very sentiments and encourage, inspire & ignite creativity in living fully. I think of you often and when I heard a Josh Garrels song the other day, it reminded me of you & a post you did on him around the Christmas season (I think?). Love how you've opened my eyes/heart as you've shared your life with others. Yes, the togetherness you write about is something Divine. :)

  14. There's no doubt that God's hand was in it, beginning to end. Steve and I always enjoy our time with you and your family. The sale is a special thing because it's not just about selling stuff. It's an experience. It's a moment of feeling God around you... breathing-in HIS art in nature... and surrounding yourself with people who have a love of creativity, who "get" why we do what we do. It's a blessing to be part of it! -Polly & Steve

  19. Anne Marie,
You did a beautiful job with the event. It is not just a sale.... It is an event that you put your heart and sole in with your family, in hopes that others will appreciate the beauty that has come together for them to experience and take away something special.
I am with you! I hosted my own sale at my home last May called the "Olivenhain Grove sale" It was in my lemon Grove. We had 600 people that choose to come and it was amazing. It is so much work, planning etc. I love that you do this a couple times a year. What a gift you are giving your community, friends, neighbors and everyone who takes the journey to join you.
    I GET IT!!
Best wishes and lots of success for future events*
I plan on attending one of your beautiful events someday.. All the way from So. Cal!
    Congrats!

  22. From the moment I got out of my car I allowed myself to be in the moment and enjoy every second of the event. What you have said here is so important because i know that you are not driven by the material things in life and it's so obvious to anyone who has met you that this is and absolute truth. Your serenity is such a desirable quality.

I stood by my car and was calmed by the quiet of the Illinois prairie. The wind was blowing and the air felt so good on my skin. Your touches (the welcome arbor and bloggers tent) made me feel so welcome. There you were with a glass of champagne and the other bloggers sharing and supporting each other.

I'm not in a position at this point to have much discretionary income and thus I knew I was NOT there to shop, I was there to capture something that's sometimes important - peace, quiet, beauty, nature, friends, support and to just lay my eyes on beautiful. I counted on others to do the shopping for me. HA!

I've posted pics from the sale on my blog today and more tomorrow. Thanks so much for giving me a lovely evening. (Sorry this is so long but some things need to be said. )

Hello beautiful. I miss our long distance chats. I hope you and your family are doing well(from the looks of things I would say so!)As usual you in only the way You can, bring about a point worth pondering. I really enjoy your wisdom and am so grateful that you share your entire life with us. Many of us GET IT, but sadly many DONT and its their loss. You are doing exactly what you were put here to do; to love, teach, encourage and serve. I can speak for blogland in this case, we love you and are truly indebted to you!

  43. Dear Anne Marie,
How could anyone not get it...
Just taking in the beauty of the farm and all the sweet and creative people all around you, it just makes you feel so happy and good inside.
Its bringing back the "homemade with love" that use to be the way of life. But now so many people want to shop the big stores. For me I adore hand made and all it represents.
Two thumbs up Anne Marie a perfect post. From the first time I read your blog "I got it" and I adore you and your sweet family for holding your believes close to your hearts and living your life in way it should be lived.
Have a sweet day and big hugs,
    Elizabeth
Next year come rain or shine and god willing I will be visiting you on the farm.

  46. Anne Marie-
Thank you for hosting the event on your prairie farm. My cousin and I met you and Jason on Friday night and were so in awe of you and your family (down to Daniel Maximus!) sharing your time and your creativity. It is great that there is more than just the material items that can be shared at an event such as this. Again, thank you for making it possible. This WI cowgirl loved it!

I absolutely enjoyed myself this weekend. Surely I didn't know what to expect but found the whole experience amazing. How special to open up your home with some of your friends and share all of your gifts.....truly inspiring. Posted the "event" on my blog today. Thank you again for all of your hard work. Hope you have been able to relax and enjoy some down time.

  48. This is my 1st time here on your blog. I found you via JO post and it's definately a sign. I dont know if anyone in the country watched the last Oprah episode, Im not a daily nor weekly fan but I sat down to watch this last show just because.

She spoke to the camera the whole time, she spoke of listening to the voice (GOD), she said you must listen to get it, you can choose to ignore it but it will always be there waiting for you to know it.

I would have loved to visit your farm I dont even know where you are in relation to me in NJ but I would have packed my family up for a roadtrip.

We are hoping to leave our state and move South for a more relaxed lifestyle, we would love land of our own.

I have 2 blogs and Etsy shops and my dream is to one day own my own little shop to sell my furniture and handmade items.

Im your newest follower and cant tell you how much I Get It!

Blessing to you and your family!

  49. Oh Anne MArie- kudos and congrats, and everything in between!! I lvoe this post! I am so glad everything was a success. I am DYING to do this here at my farm in Maine, but our gigantic behemoth barn has a leaky roof- not so good for vendors. But that feeling you speak about- that's really something. My BFF and I went to Farm Chicks a few years ago, and it's kind of like that when you get into the aisleways with the vendors. Some day...
