real life...

It’s already 9:10 – been up since 5am or was it 3am?? No clue –
the bags under my eyes tell me it was most likely around 3

A mini chocolate cake for breakfast with sprinkles on top for good measure – made by daughter of the most blessed kind (sorry: there is no way I’m sharing that coveted recipe)

Two coffee cups stand at attention – one used and abused from this morning’s bedroom soiree with baby – the other hot and ready with cake

  1. Just talking to my husband about being up throughout the night breastfeeding babies...we just saw a 'formula machine' on tv that was sort of like a coffee machine that parents can put the sachet in push a button and out comes the formula, right temp etc...it made my skin crawl to say the least...breast is best...whatever time of night or day....so enjoy that cake and coffee cos you are doing an amazing job, and no machine is going to replace that...xxx Suzanne

  4. My kids are grown and gone for awhile now but, a mother never forgets those nights nursing her precious babies. That cake your daughter made looks mighty good. I don't blame you for keeping the recipe to yourself :-)

  6. Oh, I love this post. We need a home for newborn babies and their moms so that when we're up with them at 3 a.m., we can all give each other that knowing look. When I'm up with my little one tonight, I'll send you some good vibes and a hello through my thought waves. Btw, coffee. Good idea. I'll have one right now, while he's napping for a few minutes.

  12. So touching that your darling older daughter nurtures YOU - what a loving heart.

My mother used to say children learn love through service, I can see that it's true.

  13. Fond memories of those days. No I got up at 4:30 a m today and my daughters are 31,27,25. No reason for that with me. Must be in the moon. Grandson got up at 5:30. Never went back to bed. Early night tonight I hope. Love that baby. :)

  14. Oh Anne Marie, I remember those days or should I say sleepless nights. It will be over before you know it. My daughter slept through the night at three months and I was certain the Lord answered my prayers :)

Have some cake...you deserve it :)

  17. Enjoy every minute with those beautiful children and the new baby. My little girl just graduated high school and off to study music at Capital University. A sad and happy time for me as I'll miss her playing her piano and singing. I came home last night and started crying because she was singing a beautiful song.
