speaking of bedroom...

let's be frank shall we?

okay.........good

you take a strong carpenter in mind/body/soul and pair that with a vintage loving textile reader/writer and what do you have

yes....you are right....I don't have a clue either

my Mom suggested I try "Penny's" to find some curtains.........so I spent the afternoon yesterday going here and there and everywhere up in town and came away with nothing from the "new stores"

I just can't do it

I tried Mom.......I really did!

now.........this is just my opinion.........because that's all I have, but those products don't have a soul (as someone recently told me) - yes, you Bryanne! - perfectly stated

so I exhausted my goodwill, salvation army, thrift stores (na-da) pun intended

here's what I'm trying to marry:

I definitely found some treasures out yesterday

Cracker Jax is still my shop of choice

there is always something there that speaks to me

isn't that so important?  I think so

  2. Make those curtains! You are so talented, you can do it! Love your pics and your choices are always beautiful. I love mix and match eclectic. In my bedroom, I don't have one piece that matches another and it works. Make it you!

  3. What if you tried a heavy material with a simple print and put flowing lace curtains underneath? Another idea was a solid curtain with a colored accent at the bottom. I'm not sure what colors you are putting into your room, but those are the best ways I can think of to mesh practicality and creativity. (^_^) Have fun!

  4. Love, love, love all the curtains I've purchased from Pottery Barn--especially the bright yellow Peyton Linen/Cotton drapes in my 2 1/2 year old daughter's bedroom (so incredibly cheerful!). I have PB's silk drapes in the living room and dining room. Believe me when I say, that my entire house does not/not look like a PB show room--my decorating taste is eclectic. Just really like the quality of PB's drapes.

  6. I feel just as you do about shopping retail-the items just don't have soul. I have a piece of fabulous vintage French metis that will probably be what I drape to fashion a curtain for my new studio. If not, I will make something myself with bits of vintage fabric and trims, and maybe a drop cloth. I know you'll pull it together, and it will be awesome! Can't wait to see!!

  7. Hi Ann Marie,
Me too...I always have such a hard time finding pre-made curtains. I usually end up sewing my own. I was lucky for my front room and found pre-made curtains from "Country Curtains" countrycurtains.com
    You can try their web-site.
I baked your Strawberry-Banana Bread and posted about it today. It was so good!!!! Oh my stars...my family loved it, it was a big hit!
Have a sweet day and big hugs, Elizabeth

  8. I can never find curtains that I like! Or, if I do, they cost a mint! Since we've moved to Maine, I hit the local thrift stores, but still nothing... BAck home in PA we'd ride to Del. and hit the fabric outlet and voila- curtains! Still, I can't sew very well either. SIGH.
