prairie walk.........

I thought I would take a walk with you in the prairie today.............

Before it sleeps under the covering snow (yes...I said the word snow - yikes!)........

*------------------------------------------------------------------*

It's a place for picnics and parties.............

............imagination.............and inspiration

A comfort of solitude and wild abandonment (which I am in awe of)........

*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*

Being 3 acres and a relatively 'new' project for this land (it takes a long time for a prairie to re-develop to a natural area).....

it's very hard to capture the feeling it evokes within me while I walk our grassy paths and pluck a sweet clover and admire the butterflies....and bees.....

but try really hard to imagine yourself with me............okay?...........

~you can just barely see our home in that photo~

and if these pictures aren't enough for you, then you can watch the video I threw together the other day.......please forgive the horrid camera woman.... ;)
*mute JJ if you want to hear the birds*

  1. I am completely limp now, and full of relaxation! Oh man, I have a full day ahead of me, where I need my adrenaline. I wonder if this post will hurt or help, my clarity of mind?

  4. I just toiled like a mad mad pregnant woman in the garden for 3 hours - I came in and read this post, my feet are now mentally propped up thanks to you...
    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Anne, Your photographs are perfect. The icy fence (though I am mad at you for mentioning the "s" word), the icy fence photo could almost fool me into liking winter.

  5. Hey Anne Marie! I wish I was there walking in the prairie with you ;) It looks so lovely and peaceful. I have been longing for winter lately, not sure why? Maybe it's the holidays and the nostalgia I am longing for? Who knows!
    Blessings, Molly

  10. Oh Anne Marie, your visits are always welcome and so refreshing! I so love your farm and the beautiful images that you share with us! How fun to live with animals, the open air and a simpler life, or at least away from the hustle and the bustle! About my play...this is the second one I have written. I built the little theatre and then I write a play, use miniatures to stage the play as well as use pictures. Then for the final act, I ask my readers to submit their ideas for an ending. When I collect all the entries, I post them, then give the readers a chance to vote for their favorite ending. It is fun and I just make up all the hor d'oeuvres bit, just to pretend!!! We are quite silly out here in the city!!! We are totally amused. God bless you, do come back and play along if you wish. Fondly, Anita
