what's Anne Marie been doing.......being inside, gazing out the window.....
planning the garden while preparing the family a meal.........
enjoying the simplistic beauty within ironing..........
(fun tidbit: my daughter here is wearing my dress that I wore as a child)
within these times I have alone (for that is usually the case) I take that time to meditate, think of new ideas, pray, plan, (always jotting things down on my notepad in my pocket) and enjoying time alone.......
when I was a wee lass, my sisters and I would play house (I'm sure you can relate)
(above picture is THE cutest gift my talented older sister made for me...that's us when young....the metal label thing says 'sisters')
always busying ourselves with chores.......for that's what mothers do..........
but now..........it's with coffee...........
I always thought I would get married, but never realized the diversity of such a vocation, and now, with five children and a farm, I seriously have nothing to complain about......
I always thought I would get married, but never realized the diversity of such a vocation, and now, with five children and a farm, I seriously have nothing to complain about......
except maybe the barn burning
yes, still not over that - it got rehashed out in me this past weekend while visiting friends, and their sympathy and questions compelled my husband and I to practically relive it again.....how in heaven's name will I ever get over this?........
maybe I need to have another sale.......here at the farm.......and give glory to what I have, not what I have lost.......
sounds easy enough no?~have a fantastic day, even if all you have to do today are chores, and it's at a farm without a barn~
I love the photo of your daughter standing on a stool at the kitchen sink. It takes me back in time, when I would stand on a stool to do the dishes for my mother when I was just five. I can remember how good it made me feel to be big enough to help. The photo with the child's sized ironing board and iron also brought back memories of when I would iron my doll clothes. Of course the photo hanger that your sister made for you is simply precious and reminds me of my artistic older sister who is not with us anymore, but for whom shall always be in my heart until we meet again one day in heaven. Thanks for sharing these precious photos!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Anne Marie! This post made me think of my older sister and I always playing "Little House on the Prairie" as kids...we were obsesssed with the show and with living in the "olden days!" :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable pics of your sweet daughter!!!
:) T
Such dear little pictures of your daughter doing her chores...they need to be framed! GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell my niece about your non-barn sale! She's very creative and doesn't live too far from you.
And...Our farmhouse feels strange without its pal the barn too. Ours was blowing away and for safety's sake had to be removed, and it's just not the same around here. So I understand the melancholy associated with the memories of that old barn.
XOXO
Joni
Your daughter is precious in that dress. Yet another event where I wish I lived closer to your area. Have a great sale!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the little pink ironing set! Good luck with a sale.
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie. Love your kitchen and, How special for your daughter to be able to wear her Momma's Dress. I am so sorry about the fire. I can relate to having to relive it. My parents house burned down along with lots of memories heirlooms and photos etc. We are so blessed nobody was hurt physically, but we were all pretty scarred emotionally. But the Lord is so faithful to bring beauty from ashes.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Molly
PS. yes it's me ;)

ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post and I have really enjoyed 'getting to know you' through your blog.
ReplyDeleteI too always wanted to be a wife, mother and homemaker.
How blessed I am!
These are beautiful pics of your daughter and to have a dress from you child hood-- how precious.
God Bless
Precious photos of your daughter that remind me of my own... funny. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, we are all the same ;-) It has been 4 years since our house burnt down. It feels like freedom to me now as it prompted a sequence of events that has left me somewhat liberated. Could be having fewer possessions to hold me here. With time, it will pass Anne Marie. Blessings - and good to see you too...
