catching a glimpse...

I recently read an article about homeschooling that I thought was pertinent...The writer said that she would love to remove her kids from public school due to the quality of education....and she went on to say 'but I don't want to end up in a denim jumper'....laughter was not what followed after I read that, but a true sense of understanding...(and I personally don't think there is anything wrong with a denim jumper...they hide many bodily flaws and are very modest)...
Contrary to the "stereotype" this lady was trying to get a point across that the face of homeschooling is changing...more and more parents are removing their children from the public schools to educate at home for many reasons...
We are very happy with the educational material we use with our children, however, I plan on taking even more time for more fun....more creative fun
I love me a schedule, and I'm not changing that, but I also love spontaneity...
When our son comes up to me during lunch break while I'm crocheting and wants to learn how to do the treble crochet, I do it
When my youngest daughter starts singing, I set my guitar down to listen to her open up her lungs and heart to song
When my oldest daughter has questions on life/friends/horses, I set down my own crochet and listen carefully and we talk

my new little favorite corner of the world

when you are going with the groove of homeschooling, that means you embrace the day and thus will embrace your children...their dreams...

embrace the day
peace + blessings,

  2. Oh Anne Marie,
I am bursting with admiration for anyone who home-schools. I don't think that I could have done it so, anyone who does has my full support.
All I can say is, you are a wonderful mother ( and we musn't forget the father !!).
Your children all seem happy and well-rounded and are a credit to you both. XXXX

  3. We homeschool and the ability to be spontaneous is one of my favorite things. For instance, right now my oldest son is "excavating" dinosaurs. Good stuff. :)

  4. Oh My!..You are such a gorgeous Mom Anne Marie dear!. I am one of the supporter of Homeschooling. In this now days,in my point of view the safe school for our children is homeschooling. When we realized hard to trust the public or private or even prestigious school for the real education. Hard to find the school who teach the 'TRUTH' thus we are planning to prepare homeschooling as well for my children.I am looking for other parents who have the same point of view like us in Rome but so hard way to do and hard way to find the parents who worried like us.When we discuss it some of friends or relatives ,they were laughing on us and thought us crazy and paranoid.
Blessed the parents who preserve their children in the real and healthy education and the value of the tradition like you both. One day for sure these children will understand why they get homeschooling.
No embracing for this kind of education thought it is necessary.
Have good day for all family

  6. Your children will always know how much you love them and they will always think "I remember mama" into their old age.

  8. This is an interesting post because although I do not have any kids, I have noticed an increase in the number of families that are homeschooling. One day out of curiosity, I did some research into what goes into homeschooling, and was so impressed at the amount of work that goes into it. My hat's off those families that homeschool because it is a very large, yet I suspect fulfilling, undertaking. Be blessed.

  9. Hi Anne Marie
I love my schedule also, but I find that it is in these other moments where we stop & focus on our children that they learn so much. Home schooling is indeed a joy ~ whether you wear a denim jumper or denim jeans :)
    Have a wonderful day
    Blessings

  10. Your children are very blessed to have you, Anne Marie. My husband and I both work outside the home but we are lucky that our children's private schools are faith-based (Catholic) with a strong emphasis on justice, charity and giving back to the community. I try to do as you say and embrace my children often as this is something I didn't have growing up (but I understand why it was hard for my parents as my older brother was vert sick for many years and finally died of cancer - it was difficult for them).
